Back to raya celebrations, I was celebrating raya with my family at my hometown. I am working in KL and was taking leaves 2 days before raya day and plus 3 days after raya. I was driving back home with my brother, who was drove my car till Gunung Semanggol before meeting his wife and kids. Then I took over.
This year all my brothers (who are married) were celebrated raya with my parents and other siblings except my 3rd brother who was only back home on the 2nd nite of raya. We were happy to be together to celebrate this raya. I cooked 'nasi udang' or prawn rice on 1st raya. My father, brothers and my sister together with me went for Aidilfitri's prayer at the nearest surau early in the morning (usually the prayers perform at 8.30am and end about 9.30-10am). The congregation not so crowd may be some of them celebrate at their in-laws side (follow turn).
Since raya fall on Friday and all muslim men then have to perform Friday's prayer, we decided to visit our relatives after that. We had a photo session after Friday's prayer. Then, we went to my auntie's house (my dad's eldest sister) who is staying at Felda Chuping. There, we had nasi daging and raya cookies. My 2nd brother just went for a while since he has to drive back to Penang for duty..(hahaha.. have to work). We just spent about 1 1/2 hour at her house then we went back home. Nowhere else to drop by. Looked like this year not so lively.
On the 2nd day of raya late morning we went to my uncle's house (my mum's younger brother). There, we had nasi campur and of course cookies. After that my brothers and I went to visit our grandfather's grave (my dad's late father). Late afternoon our auntie and her children who are staying at Felda Chuping were coming to our house. They had their dinner at our house.
3rd day of raya we received a bad news, my relative (my late grandfather's sister-in-law) past away. May her soul rest in peace. I brought my parents to pay a last respect. Then we went to my auntie's house (my dad's youngest sister). Actually my brothers and I were planning to visit our grandmother grave near to that auntie's house. We do this every year without fail. But that day it was raining and we couldn't do that. We stopped at auntie's house with our parent and had cookies. Only her eldest son was in, while her husband were having a nap (suppose to be woke up) and she was at the demise house. Then we went home.
My 2nd brother and his family was went to his wife's hometown in Perak on this day to celebrate on their side.
I couldn't remember which day of raya, but we went to my auntie's house (my mum's youngest sister) who is staying at the border between Perlis and Kedah. Only my 2nd brother with his family, my youngest brother, my mum, my sisters and me went there.
The rest of the day, I just stayed at home and cooked some food. Oh! ya, by the way, on 2nd raya my 1st in-law cooked mee kari, 3rd day or raya I cooked pulut kuning and rendang, 4th day or raya I cooked mee kuah. :) But, the main menu that cannot miss every raya is ketupat and meat curry which is prepared by my mum. Until today I can't get how to prepare ketupat. I have to learn again.
On Wednesday, 15 Sept or 6th day or raya my 2 brothers and me went to our grandmother grave again to clean the grave. We followed the route that far from my auntie's house, as usual. In the evening I went to buy asam laksa (laksa beras) which was so tasty and I was thinking to buy for my boss family once back to KL next day.
Thursday, 17 Sept the 7th day of raya I drove back to KL with my brother who was accompanying me. We departed about 11.30 pm. We dropped by to buy asam laksa for my boss family and also for Pakya. Then we dropped by at my auntie's house in Chuping to collect 'ketupat' before proceed our journey. We drove all the way by using highway from Perlis through Changlun.
We stopped at Simpang Pulai then my brother took over to drive. We dropped by at my house at Bukit Beruntung at 5.4opm. After Magrib we drove to Uda's house to pass ketupat and ikan kering then to my office to pass asam laksa to Pakya. Later we went straight to our boss's house to pass asam laksa. We reached at my rent's house at about 11pm... so tired and preparing for tomorrow work.
This year of raya was not so lively as before. My siblings also noticed that. Usually, our house being dropped by of many children to collect 'duit raya' as me and my siblings did when we were kid those day. Feeling so tired during raya because have to prepare dishes, drink and entertain guests especially relatives, but enjoy . :)
